From prehistory to the Swinging Sixties, from Agincourt to the Western Front, from canals to the Apollo project, from art to science. We go out of our way to ensure that meetings are informal and friendly, with an opportunity to have a hot drink and a chat. If you don't like the look of of one month's subject, come anyway. you never know, you might learn something interesting, and the next talk is likely to cover something very different. In other words, there should be something for everyone over the course of several talks.
It's preferable that you fill in the sign up sheet at the monthly meeting or contact Bill before you attend so we know whether we can cover at least most of the cost of hiring the hall, and we can get in touch with you if we have to postpone the talk (although up to now we've never had to do this at short notice). Although if you don't sign up and your plans change at the last minute and are able to come along, we would be glad to see you. We certainly won't be turning anyone away!
The more members who come forward to give a talk, the more regularly these meetings can take place and the more varied the talks will be. The diverse subject matter means that a great deal of research is required to prepare a talk, which is a challenge when there are very few members prepared to volunteer for the task. Any member may volunteer to give a talk on any historic subject of their choice. If it's your passion, we want to hear about it. Powerpoint, projector and screen are available, but you don't have to use them.
