I was very saddened and surprised to hear of Bob Rouse's recent passing, after a short illness. Bob organised countless outings over many years for u3a members in Coventry. Although Bob was a member of Coventry u3a, he ensured that places were made available to members of neighbouring branches and Coventry Sherbourne u3a members have greatly benefited from this approach. Only last month I went on one of Bob's garden visits to Herefordshire and in addition to the garden trips I've also enjoyed a coach trip to Bletchley Park. I even went on an activity packed holiday in Harrogate, where almost every possible moment was filled with an interesting visit to a National Trust property, a gallery, or a trip on a heritage railway. When it came to making the most of these outings, Bob had everything planned to ensure they went like clockwork, such was his dedication and scrupulous attention to detail.
Although I cannot claim to have known Bob very well, his kindness, friendliness and easy going nature shone through and he will be sorely missed. Our heartfelt condolences go to Kathleen and family.
