We are always looking ahead to find something a bit different or special for our members. For instance, this month we have our first Petanque meeting of recent times. We had a false start when we tried to run a session, but that was cancelled due to the weather. Let's hope for better luck this time. For further details please see What's On or the newsletter.

There is also an intention to go along as a group on a couple of Harry Shaw day trips, following the success of of the recent excursion to Buxton. We are looking at a coach trip to Stamford (September), specifically for its market, but it is also a town which boasts some very fine buildings and is a particular favourite of mine. The Christmas Market at Gloucester Quays, in November, is also in our sights and if shopping isn't your thing, there is the historic cathedral to view.

Finally, at the risk of jumping the gun, we are in the early stages of making arrangements with a distinguished university academic for a talk that promises to be something extra special.
